Project and contact
This notice describes data handling on alpvar.com, the ALPVAR life-science intelligence project. The project’s privacy contact is info@alpvar.com. ALPVAR is currently in testing.
No optional tracking
ALPVAR does not install analytics cookies, advertising pixels, session recording or cross-site tracking scripts. We do not sell personal data. This does not mean that no data is processed: essential feature cookies, saved monitoring data and technical hosting logs are described below.
Private aggregate page-view counts
ALPVAR counts eligible public page loads for private operational statistics. Only daily totals and public page paths are stored, without IP addresses, visitor identifiers, referrers or browser profiles. These counts do not use analytics cookies or tracking scripts and cannot measure unique people. Signed-in administrators, editor previews, prefetches and recognized bots are excluded; unrecognized automated traffic may remain. Daily totals are kept for up to one year, with an aggregate all-time total retained. Technical request headers are inspected transiently to filter requests and are not saved in these statistics.
Data used for features
When you open Watchlists, a random browser identifier associates your saved watchlist names, company selections, alert keywords and notifications with this browser. The server stores a hash of that identifier. It is not an account and does not identify you by name. Avoid entering sensitive personal information into names or alert keywords.
Search and filtering requests may send company names, tickers or query terms to ALPVAR’s server and, where needed, to the relevant public data provider. Admin access uses an authentication cookie; unpublished editor drafts can be saved in the administrator’s browser. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in your message.
Cookies and local storage
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| alpvar-browser | Essential identifier for watchlists and alerts, set when you access monitoring features. | Up to one year from setting. |
| alpvar-admin | Essential authentication for administrators after successful sign-in. | Up to eight hours; removed on sign-out. |
| alpvar-cookie-preferences | Local storage remembering acknowledgement and essential-only settings. No unique tracking ID. | Preference valid for 180 days; replaced on the next acknowledgement or removed when you clear site data. |
| alpvar-editor-draft | Local storage for unpublished admin edits. | Until published, discarded or cleared. |
| alpvar-watchlists | Earlier browser-only watchlists, if previously created. | Until imported into the current system or cleared. |
Cookie settings are always available in the footer. No optional cookies are enabled by these controls. Browser settings let you block or remove essential cookies; this can disable saved monitoring or admin access. Clearing a browser identifier does not automatically erase server records and may remove your access to them. Export watchlists first.
Hosting and data providers
ALPVAR is hosted on Infomaniak infrastructure. Requests necessarily involve technical information such as IP addresses, request timestamps, browser information and requested URLs; hosting or security systems may log it for operation, troubleshooting and security. Hosting log retention is governed by the hosting configuration and provider’s policies; contact us for details.
Connected sources include PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, openFDA, EMA, Europe PMC, J-STAGE, SEC EDGAR and Eulerpool. Source requests are made through ALPVAR’s server. Some providers operate outside Switzerland, including in the United States and Japan. Search terms or organization identifiers used for a source request may be processed there. Opening a linked original record takes you to a third-party website with its own privacy practices, which may receive your IP address, browser information and the origin of this site.
Retention and removal
Saved watchlists and alert rules remain in the server database until removed or a deletion request is handled. Removing a watchlist hides it; stopping an alert disables monitoring, and these actions may retain underlying records. Notifications older than 90 days are purged during monitoring processing. Backups may retain earlier copies according to hosting and operational retention. We do not claim immediate deletion from all backups.
Your choices and rights
You can manage watchlists and stop alerts within the site, block essential cookies in your browser, and contact us to request information, access, correction or erasure of your personal data, subject to applicable law and proportionate identity checks. Do not send passwords or cookie tokens by email. You may raise a data-protection concern with the relevant supervisory authority; in Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Changes
If the site’s data handling changes, this notice will be updated. Optional analytics or advertising require a separate assessment and appropriate user controls before activation.
